Which Dog is the Best Survival Dog?

There are several types of dogs that make good survival dogs. These dogs include the German Shepherd, Labrador, and Rhodesian Ridgeback. Each of these dogs has their own unique traits and qualities that make them great for the outdoors. But which one is the best? These dogs can help you survive in any situation.

Akita

The Akita is an extremely intelligent dog that has a high prey drive. However, it can become bored and aggressive if it doesn't get enough variety. This makes it important to begin socializing your new pet early in life. You should avoid bringing your Akita home with you to strangers, as they can be aggressive toward other dogs or children. Also, they can be very destructive around the house and may destroy your shoes and furniture. Luckily, you can train your Akita to protect your home and property.

Labrador

The Labrador Retriever has been considered one of the best survival dogs. This breed is known for its hunting skills and likeability factor. The Labrador is the most popular dog in the United States and makes the best hunting dog.

Rhodesian Ridgeback

The Rhodesian Ridgeback is one of the most versatile and adaptable dogs in the world. As a result, it is often regarded as one of the best prepper dogs. Originally bred to hunt lions, the breed is renowned for being fearless. Today, the breed is used in therapy and rescue work.

German Shepherd

The German Shepherd is known as the "ShepHERD" by owners. This breed is a powerful, medium-sized dog with a double coat consisting of a soft undercoat and a tight, coarse outer coat. This double coat sheds heavily, so it is important to brush your dog regularly. You can also use a special dog brush that pulls on the undercoat to help manage shedding. Approximately twice a year, your dog will go through this shedding cycle.

Cane Corso

Cane Corsos have a robust build and eat large portions. However, their size can also pose a health issue. They need four to five cups of high-quality food each day. A veterinarian can help you choose the right food for your dog.
