If you want a survival dog that can go anywhere with you, German short-haired pointers are among the best breeds. These dogs excel at hunting, and they're an excellent choice for survival. Another great breed to consider is the Brittany Spaniel. But if you're looking for a dog that will make a good work or hunting dog, you might want to consider the Labrador Retriever.
German Shorthaired Pointer
This dog has a long history in Germany. Originally known as the Deutsch Kurzhaar, the German Shorthaired Pointer was crossbred with the Hannover Hound in the early 17th century. This combination resulted in an extremely versatile breed, capable of tracking, pointing, and trailing both small and large prey. The breed was first recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1930. Today, it is a popular companion for families.
The German Shorthaired Pointer is an excellent hunting dog with a high energy level and a loving temperament. They can be hyperactive and destructive chewers and should be trained with a good deal of exercise. Their high energy level can make them hyperactive and aggressive towards small pets. While these dogs are generally good with children and other pets, they are also prone to barking at strangers and can be aloof toward strangers. Although not a particularly aggressive breed, the German Shorthaired Pointer can be temperamental with cats and other dogs.
Labrador retriever
The Labrador Retriever is one of the oldest breeds of dogs in the world and is best known for its ability to track, hunt, and bring back the game for their owners. In the late 19th century, these dogs assisted duck hunters, bringing back the prey from the field. Due to their webbed feet and webbing between their paws, these dogs were perfect for hunting. The Labrador's double coat provides the dog with water-repellent protection and insulating properties.
The Labrador Retriever is a breed of working dogs with a strong jaw, broad head, sturdy legs, and strong shoulders. They move quickly and have a strong stride, making them a great choice for outdoor activity or for survival situations. The Labrador's coat is long and straight, keeping the dog warm and wicking away water. Although these traits make the Labrador Retriever an excellent survival dog, some people do not prefer this breed for its high energy needs.
Doberman Pinscher
The Doberman Pinscher has a fierce temperament that many people consider to be its greatest weakness, but that's where its greatness lies. This dog has long been known as an exceptional war dog, and its fierce nature has led to the nomination of Doberman pinschers by the United States Marine Corps. Known as "devil dogs" in the United States military, Dobermans were revered for their heroic performances in several branches of the armed forces.
Although this breed is highly trainable, they can get into trouble if they are not given enough stimulation and exercise. If given the opportunity to perform tasks, they will be happy to oblige. If not given enough exercise, however, this dog can be very playful and can easily entertain themselves. When given enough stimulation and exercise, the Doberman Pinscher is a great companion. But if you don't have the time or the money to train a dog, it can become a real nuisance.
American Pitbull Terrier
Aside from being the best survival dog, you may also want to consider an Alaskan Malamute. Although this dog is extremely energetic and is great for training, it can get overheated easily. You should make sure that you bring the dog outside often so it can get plenty of exercise. Aside from its incredible endurance, this breed is a great choice for children who are interested in dogs. But keep in mind that this breed requires a lot of training and early socialization.
The pit bull breed is extremely well suited for family life. These dogs are gentle and playful with children and need plenty of exercise to release excess energy. If your pit bull lives in an apartment, you may notice that it exhibits destructive behavior. Fortunately, if you train your pit bull well, he'll remain an excellent companion. Early socialization and leash training are crucial to prevent a pit bull from destroying your home.
